On the occasion of Diwali, Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship visited Prem Niwas Home for the Aged to celebrate the festival with the elderly residents. The event was filled with warmth and joy, bringing together students and the elderly in a spirit of celebration and togetherness.
The program began with a series of praise and worship songs, setting a positive and peaceful atmosphere. This was followed by a heart-touching skit performed by the students, focusing on the Importance of Mental Health. The emotional portrayal of the skit moved the audience deeply, leaving many in tears as it highlighted the need for mental well-being, especially among the elderly.
Dr. Porinita Banerjee, the Director (In-charge) of the institute, delivered the presidential address. She emphasized the theme of "Love thy Neighbour", referencing the close proximity of Prem Niwas Home to the institute. She expressed that the institute has always cherished the opportunity to celebrate joyous occasions with the residents of the old age home, reinforcing the values of community care and compassion.
Ms. Verenne Vigas Secretary of St Vincent De Paul Society then offered a heartfelt vote of thanks, appreciating the thoughtful gesture of the institute. The celebration concluded with the distribution of traditional Diwali sweets, leaving smiles on the faces of all present and marking the end of a meaningful and joyous celebration.
This event was a beautiful reminder of the importance of compassion, inclusivity, and the shared celebration of happiness.
