Program Highlights
The Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship (PIMSE) successfully organised a One-Day International Workshop on Business Development in association with OWNIT, Spain, a reputed technology firm. The workshop was designed to provide students with valuable global exposure to contemporary business practices, innovation, entrepreneurship and business development strategies.
The workshop brought together distinguished international speakers from Mondragon Corporation, Spain — Ms. Aisha García, Ms. Marta Laiz, Ms. Alicia Terrasa and Ms. María Arroyo — who shared their expertise and international perspectives with the participants. The programme was attended by Director Dr. Porinita Banerjee, faculty members and enthusiastic students.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and felicitation of the international delegates, followed by an engaging series of interactive sessions focused on the realities and opportunities of the global business environment.
The technical sessions covered four key themes:
1. Business Development in a Global Context- Participants explored emerging global business trends, evolving markets and opportunities in the international business landscape.
2. Innovation & Idea Generation- The session introduced students to concepts of design thinking and creative problem-solving, encouraging them to identify real-world challenges and transform them into potential business opportunities.
3. Building Scalable Business Models- Students were introduced to practical entrepreneurial tools, particularly the Business Model Canvas, and examined international case studies to understand how innovative ideas can be transformed into sustainable business models.
4. From Idea to Execution- The final technical session focused on the entrepreneurial journey — from developing an idea to implementing it. Students gained insights into startup challenges, execution strategies and practical approaches to overcoming business obstacles.
A major highlight of the workshop was the interactive group activity, where students developed and presented their own business ideas. The international experts provided valuable feedback and practical suggestions, enabling participants to refine their ideas and gain a deeper understanding of the entrepreneurial process.
The workshop successfully transformed theoretical concepts into an experiential learning opportunity, fostering creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and entrepreneurial confidence among students.
The programme concluded on a positive note, with participants gaining a broader understanding of global business environments and the skills required to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
The workshop was organised by Dr. Lionel John D’Mello, whose initiative and coordination contributed significantly to the successful execution of the programme.
The International Workshop reinforced PIMSE’s commitment to providing students with global exposure, industry interaction and future-ready learning experiences.
