Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship (PIMSE) celebrated Minorities Rights Day on 20th December, 2024 by organizing a session to raise awareness among students about the significance of safeguarding minority rights. The session aimed to educate the students on the importance of promoting equality, social justice and the protection of the rights of minority groups in society. This initiative was part of the institute's continuous effort to create an inclusive environment and foster social responsibility among its students.
Dr. Anjum Sayyad delivered an insightful lecture on the legal and constitutional safeguards available to minorities in India. She explained the historical context of minority rights, their ongoing challenges and the roles of government and civil society in ensuring their protection. Mr. Zafar Ahmed Khan highlighted the need for both policy-level changes and grassroots efforts to ensure the protection and empowerment of minorities. He shared real-life examples of how active engagement and awareness can lead to positive changes urging students to take initiative in advocating for minority rights.
The session concluded with a lively interactive discussion where students actively participated, asking questions and engaging in meaningful conversations about how they can contribute to fostering a more inclusive society.
