Keeping in mind the above quote, the Poona Institute of Management Sciences and Entrepreneurship had organised an industrial visit to National Cold Chain Research Centre (NCCRC) on 05th July, 2022 for the students of MBA/MBA-IT/MBA-HRD.

Earlier as a “Cold Chain Training Center, it was a part of Deputy Director of Health Services- Transport (DDHS-Tr), Pune- SHTO office & since 1982, it has been supporting the policies of Government of India in capacity building of technical cold chain staff.

The visit started with a brief introduction of the industry given by Mr. Yogesh Bhamare. He explained about the key elements involved in the process of cold chain. He elaborated on the supply chain of vaccine flow in the country during the Covid-19 pandemic. He further explained about the vaccine management cycle for proper management.

The other resource person Mr. Vikas Patil explained about the vitalness of the managerial tasks involved in the process of cold chain. He also briefed the about equipment handling training and spare part inventory management.

The students asked questions related to testing and distribution of vaccine and it's usefulness. Also, they were eager to know the problems encountered with respect to power supply for the maintenance of cold chain as well as the management of stock of vaccine.

Eventually, the visit ended with a group photograph of the resource persons, staff members and the students. The visit proved to be successful as one could easily make out from the happy faces of the students that they were able to learn something new especially about the various initiatives undertaken for the effective implementation of the immunization programme.

The visit was successfully coordinated by Dr. Zarina Shaikh. Our Director (Incharge) Dr. Porinita Banerjee motivated and supported in every aspect for the successful conduction of this event.
