Visit to SKF India Ltd

In sync with Industry – Institute interaction, Poona Institute of Management Sciences and entrepreneurship organized an Industrial visit to SKF India Ltd, Pune for our MBA Students. 

SKF is a Swedish bearing and seal manufacturing company founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1907. The company, manufactures and supplies bearings, seals, and related services globally.

SKF runs its own business excellence program for continuous improvement (Kaizen) of its business processes in all parts of the company. The program is based on previous initiatives like TQM, KANBAN systems that integrates with lean management also statistical methods of Six Sigma along with related project management.

The students were exposed to the manufacturing process of the factory where they learnt about the operations of the plant. Students also witnessed the practical implications of concept such as Quality Circles, Fishbone diagram for Quality Problem Analysis, 5S system, Skill Matrix and Job Card methods that are used for handling jobs at shopfloor.

We thank the Management of SKF  India Ltd for giving us this opportunity to expose our students to various aspects of running the bearing industry.
